Stream Teams United is seeking two volunteer interns to assist with organizational advocacy efforts during the 2018 legislative session.  Stream Teams United is a nonprofit organization that works to support the Missouri Stream Team Program.  The Missouri Stream Team Program is celebrating its 29th year and has over 100,000 citizen volunteers statewide that work to protect and improve our state’s water resources.  The Missouri Stream Team Program is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

This internship will require an organized and energetic individual that can assist in educating the Stream Team community on legislative issues that affect Missouri’s waterways.  The internship position will include activities such as but not limited to the following:

- Attend an initial orientation session via conference call on January 2, 2018

- Help identify proposed legislation that affects water resources and monitor its progression

- Assist in composing weekly Legislative Updates that will inform members of the Stream Team coalition on legislation of concern

- Attend conference calls with advocacy committee

- Assist in education/outreach efforts on legislative issues via email marketing system, social media, and website posts

- Help prepare end of session report to recap important legislation.

The internship position requires a commitment of 60-70 volunteer hours over the internship period, which is 22 weeks.  The volunteer internship position will begin January 2, 2018 and will conclude June 1, 2018.  Applications will be accepted from Nov. 1 through Dec. 1, 2017, and should include a letter of interest, resume, and two references.
